Does Convergys check credit when you’re applying for a job?
My husband is applying for a job at Convergys and seems to be a frontrunner for the job. But we’ve had bad credit ever since living through a hurricane. Our experience has been that no companies will give you a shot once you have bad credit. Does anyone know what Convergys’ policy on credit is? Thanks.

I don’t know if Convergys checks the credit score of a potential employee, but many companies do. I would suggest that your husband contact the HR department and ask if they are planning to run a credit check. If the answer is yes, he should ask them if he can send them a letter explaining why his credit is bad (the hurricane). I think most employers would be sympathetic to your situation and more understanding of debts accrued because of a natural disaster instead of just poor money management. Have you tried cleaning up your credit? This is a great site that can help: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/ I also read Suze Orman’s books and found her very helpful as well. Good luck and I hope your hubby gets the job!
