Dress appropriately for the interview and the type of job you are seeking. Don’t chew gum, arrive at least 5 minutes early.Look directly at the person interviewing you. Don’t volunteer information that is not asked of you. Have a resume ready to leave with interviewer. Don’t forget to thank them for the opportunity. Good luck!

I know I’m a guy but ……. I’ve always worn a real nice suit, brought a small pad with questions to ask them right back, brought a copy of my resume’, and been extremely friendly and outgoing. I’ve always had luck with that. You’d be surprised how impressed I’ve made some employers. These days I’ve seen people waiting next to me for an interview wearing jeans and a polo, that just doesn’t cut it if you really want the job ! Go on a lot of interviews then you will start not to care as much and all your inhibitions will not be in the way. Good luck to you, and remember they need you as an employee !

    Confidence, but not arrogance.

Study the job description and anticipate questions that they will ask regarding your skills.

Think of past experiences that were positive. Behavioural interview questions are very popular nowadays. “Tell me about a time when…”

Even if the environment is laid back, look nice. That doesn’t mean suit nice…but, professional.

Go in with Smart questions prepared.

    Good luck.

I work in Human Resources and I agree with others that dressing appropriately is very important. It doesn’t matter if you are applying to work in a grocery store, wearing a suit and looking professional will show that you will take this job seriously. Always be prepared, have extra resumes, and references ready just in case. Think of insightful questions to ask. Look at the employers website (if they have one) and bring it up during the interview. This way you will show your interest and the fact that you prepared for the interview. Bring the job ad/description and always try to tie back all your answers to show how you are a right fit for what they are looking for. Be confident and look them in the eye, don’t fidget. Most importantly let your own personality shine though and try not to be too nervous! Then follow up with a thank you email/letter to really wow them. Good Luck!
