Need Ideas for best and highest paying “Entry Level” jobs?
OK, so just a very quick background. I live in washington, and I unfortunately got mislead into taking a horrible job that only pays about 1/2 as much as they lead me to believe it would. (Its piecework and they said people average $20 an hour, but turns out the average is $10-$11 an hour). So I’m going about $500 more into debt every day I work there and need a job very fast, that will start me at $15-$16 an hour or more, and I’m just running into a dead end with ideas.
I’ve got about 7 years customer service experience, but those jobs are mostly dead end jobs, and rarely ever pay more than $13 an hour, so I’m looking to switch to a more enjoyable job.
I’m capable of learning almost any skill very fast, just by going to the library/bookstore.
Does anyone have any ideas of decent jobs that are relatively entry level, and pay at least $15-$16 an hour or more? I’ll consider almost any field right now.
Note: There are way too many people advertising scam online jobs, like cashcrate, or other scam work at home businesses. I will not consider even reading any online work at home related businesses.

Hi ….I was searching around to try and find a nice site that would give a good list and description of the various types of careers and jobs that are available in the USA for young people today. I found this site very interesting and thought I would pass it on..

Under the BOX heading of… Plan A Career…There are sub categories of …

When you find and click on a specific career…i.e.. Dental Assistant..for example, they give you all the information about the job, including the education requirements, training, working conditions, responsibilities, salary etc..and many like this one also have a video associated with it to show what the job is actually like…

My suggestion to you would be to take every civil service job that you can take. They are available at the state employment office where you live. Regardless of the job, the first step is to get your foot in the door so to speak. I work for the state of PA, and the lowest paid employee is around $12 an hour as a janitor’s assistant. Once you get a job, assuming that you pass one of the hundreds of tests available, you can switch or bid on other jobs that you are qualified for. Each job specification has requirements. For example, a fiscal assistant needs 12 semester hours of accounting and/or an equal amount of experience. Once you become a fiscal assistant, you can apply to become a fiscal tech, and once you have that you can apply for an accountant 1 or auditor 1. The fast way would be to get a degree in accounting, but there are other people in my office that don’t have anything…except on the job training. A fiscal assistant here starts at $16 an hour. Federal civil service pay and benefits are even better.
my advice to you is to start applying to large companies/corporations ASAP. apply to the biggest and best companies. for instace fortune 100 companies. over there even if you get a clerical customer service position, you will be paid well and you will have tons of opportunity to grow. go to fortune.com or cnn.com and look for fortune lists of best companies by your state. good luck!!!!
You may not believe this but sanitation workers starting pay where I live is 15 to 16 dollars an hour and they don’t even get out of the trucks. It isn’t a glamorous nor what I would consider a good or long range job but it will get the bills payed.
well I bet you won’t consider this one but what the hell, right? anything entry level? How about 24.95/hr plus 70 dollars per diem per day? hmm. . . you will have to travel for this one. Washington. Yeah. not too far. Think Wyoming. Really. It is the highest paying state in the us per capita. Why? industry my friend. Mining. Gas. Oil. and you thought we got all of our oil from the middle east and the south china sea. What about all that baking soda you use to keep your socks so fresh? yup. that’s all us too baby. wyoming.
So here it is. You said anything. -Drilling. Oil and Gas extraction. Work the drill floor. A worm. That’s the title. Work worm’s corner.
but this will be no easy task. oh sure landing the job will be cake if you really want it. trust me on that little detail. if you can pass a drug screen, a teensy physical, so easy. . But there are two considerations you need to make. BIG considerations:
1. are you up to the task? it’s labor intensive. you know, like logging, or crab fishing or um. . .hell weak at camp buds, but like every week- well that you work of course. you don’t know work until you done this!
2. willing to travel? you obviously don’t have to move. What you do have to do is stay at a camp. if you get on with the right drilling company who offers catered rigs you don’t even have to buy any food what so ever. but all drilling rigs offer you a camp. its an indoor lodging, like a mobile home with bunks and potable water. you do 7 days on 7days off. you get half of the year off that way. 14 days a month and you NET $2000 a week. thats 4 G’s a month. you work 12 hours/day
and as there may be some variation from company to company as long as you WORK ON A DRILL FLOOR you will make this kind of money and have time to pay all of your bills and hey, maybe even afford a vacation here or there. It is actually quite addictive once you get the taste for it. it sucks a little at first because you are so damn tired at the end of the day but crap! once you get into your second or third day off and you realize how much stamina and strength you gained. . .oh yeah. . .and after six months. . . please don’t get into any fights-you get heavy hands, hit like a freight train, other guy gets sent to the hospital.
The only other option I could offer you to make the kind of revenue you are talking about is to sell drugs. But I think you could do some prison time for that. your choice.
