Recent College Grad, Where Can I Find a Job in ATL?
Hey,
I just recently graduated with Double Degree in Finance and Communications. I graduated with Magna Cum Laude with honors from both my depts- however I don’t have much relevant work experience. I just came to Atlanta and the move left me pretty tapped out, so I need a job ASAP. I’ve been looking but haven’t been able to find anything so far. Tried the Newspapers and all the internet sites, but have gotten no takers. Can somebody help? Thanks!!!

Get the yellow pages from the Phone Book and go to each of the businesses that you are interested in with your resume and apply for a job. If you find a place you really like, keep going back there every day. Just to let them know you really want the job. With your qualifications you shouldn’t have much problem. Could be your resume, your attitude, your dress….look at yourself in the mirror and see if you are a professional person. If not, change it.
Be patient. New grads take time to find the right job that Could satisfy them from different aspects. The only advice I can help you with is what to do at job interviews. Try my site at http://www.money-from-website.com/job-interview-techniques-to-find-a-job.html. Good luck and welcome to the world of hard work.
Gee… a new college grad with those creditionals should be able to get a job in ANY fast food restaurant in Atlants.
Atlanta is the hub for alot of businesses. To get your foot in the door try Bank of America – there alot of branches. Also, your resume might need some help with the wording. You can also go through an employment agency like Robert Half who specialize in jobs relating to finance. They will find you a job and the employer pays a fee. In addition, look at a small business like Edward Jones. One more, have you tried monster.com
Good luck – Atlanta was difficult for me to find a job..more so getting the pay you want.
As for Capt. M. Hunt’s comment – you obviously are not a professional – this kid didn’t spend 5-6 years of his life in college to work at McDonalds. He’s tapped out, but probably has enough funds to sustain himself for a couple of months – that would be the perception between a professional and a non-professional.
I would try the temp agencies if you need a job quick. Also try Kinko’s or someone with help with your resume. It could need a little polishing.
Survey says……….apply with a bank or the government!
Same thing happened to me. I went to the local universities in my area and for a small fee ($20) I was able to attend job fairs on campuses and meet with prospective employers/corporations.

Get onto university websites or go in person and visit the career centers at these universities and register for upcoming job fairs. There are also tons of catalogs and listings of recruiters and corporations with job postings at the career offices.
Good Luck!
