Should I apply for a job with a company that my current company works with?
I am currently searching for a job and I know executives from majority of the companies in my industry around my area.
Some of the partners of my current companies are hiring position that fits me really well; however, the hiring manager are people who I dealt with in the current business relationship.
Would it be a good idea if I go ahead a apply for jobs with them?

if it is greener pasture… go ahead… just follow proper procedure with your old company
Works with, against, doesn’t matter. Go for it, it could prove to be a professional advantage (and I don’t mean in a Dr Evil sort of way)…
You could go ahead and try, but I know someone who was in a similar situation and after flying to another state for the interview, got rejected because the company was afraid it would ruin it’s business relationship with the other company if it “stole” an employee.
As a matter of business ethics, all applications are supposed to be handled in strict confidentiality. There are instances where applications of own employees are seen by the managers.!!
So Please do apply and nothing should go wrong. Even if they find out, you have every right to seek better opportunities in your life. Do Not worry
First of all, you need to understand if the position you are applying to will cause a conflict for you (and the company) as you may be in possession of information, knowledge or others that legally can’t be passed on to your new employer.
Second, check your employment contract for clauses that prevent you to joining competitors or partners of your current company. Although those clauses are not always enforceable, it may be a good idea to avoid the issue.
If such a conflict or clause do not exist, approach the company you want to apply and at a suitable time of the interviewing process (or by speaking to one of those executives you know) present them the case to understand their position. If they are OK with doing it and they offer you the position, talk to your employer and clarify the situation.
It may be a complex situation, but if you approach with a plan and honestly you should be able to work it out. And in any case remember that you have the right to work, and if you are open and ethical about it chances are nothing can prevent you from changing jobs.
