When you are applying for a job online, do you include a cover letter?

When applying for jobs on Craigslist, I normally just give a cover-letter style introduction in the email body and attach my resume. Should I be attaching a separate cover letter as well? Does it depend on the style of the job posting and their specifications? I am applying in a wide range of fields from business to customer service to child care.

When I require a cover letter, I’ll usually mention that in my ad. Most companies do. However, I don’t look down on someone if they do send me a cover letter. If anything I just skip over it to the actually resume.

Pretty much every thing is apply on line these days.

What you want to do is type up a cover letter that is the main body of the e-mail with your resume enclosed. Make it short, snappy, PERSONALIZED to the company it’s self. As in, why you are interested in them specifically, and why you’re perfect for what they need.

It’s tough to get noticed in this faceless new form of employment opportunities, but not impossible.

    Good luck!
