For general info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and search ‘pharmacy technicians’ or such.

Perhaps one can first get a job as a pharmacy clerk/cashier and a pharmacy tech job will eventually be available. I’m sure that one would feel more secure in their knowledge and job skills, however, if going to a training program first. Please steer clear of private $$ schools and instead the county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course) as long as accredited within the industry.

Please be very wary clear of online, for-profit schools such as penn foster, stratford career, university of phoenix and others: http://www.uopsucks.com

You would need to tell us where you live.

I just found several positions on Methodist Willowbrook Hospital’s website.

Googling pharmacy tech job search led me here: pharmacy.tech.jobs.topusajobs.com. It said in the header that they had 1937 open job listings.

One reason there are so few opening is that there is a lot of competition for entry level positions like that one. I’d look for a job close to school or home to reduce commute time.

Usually your local pharmacy stores in your area such as CVS, Walgreens, etc would have job listings for pharmacy tech. Or you can visit some of the stores and speak to the manager directly to see if they are hiring for that position . I would also do some research online and find all of the hospitals around your area. Look at their websites under the career section, and see if they have any listings for pharmacy tech. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

Well, I obtained my job by volunteering first at my local hospital’s inpatient pharmacy. The director of pharmacy saw that I was a good worker and took it upon himself personally to make sure my paperwork went thru the head of human resources.
