Though I am assured that you are an intelligent person, people have a tendency to overlook qualifications if they believe that they will be unable to communicate with you. I would suggest getting a job working in the service industry and offerring to exchange tutoring services with someone in education at a University as a means of improving your language skills. For survival, check the newspaper for jobs. You haven't mentioned what your undergrad degree is in, but I'm sure you could work for a company that advertized for specific skills that meet your abilities.
